Try These Simple Troubleshooting Solutions

Foam filters can be rinsed off with clean water. Inspect the washable filters regularly or at least every 6 months. Install the cleaned filter after it is completely dry. Remember, you can’t wash paper filters, but you can make it last longer by shaking out the dust and dirt.
If the bag is about half full – it’s time to change it! Don’t try to reuse old and dirty vacuum bags. It is important to change vacuum bags if you are cleaning fine dust such as carpet powders, chimney soot, or plaster type materials. Fine dust restricts air flow and can cause the vacuum bag to burst, which could cause permanent damage to your vacuum.

If your vacuum is bagless, empty the dirt collection bin frequently.

The beater bar is also commonly referred to as the agitator or the brush roller. It is common for hair or other debris to collect on the beater bar and end caps, which can cause lost suction or damage to your vacuum. You should use your fingers to remove the debris or you may need to use scissors if the hair is wound tightly.
If you have hardwood floors, you probably use a nozzle attachment that can get clogged with dirt and debris. Be sure to keep the nozzle opening clean for optimal performance.
A dirty vacuum can cause poor suction and overheating of your machine. Be sure to remove clogs from the hoses, wipe away dirt and debris from the air passages, clean filters and filter covers, replace bags or clean collection bin, and keep the brush rollers spinning free of debris. Regular maintenance can help add life to your vacuum investment.
